Sazzadul Alam Bobby is not just an organizer; he is also a dedicated supporter of cricket. His career as a cricket organizer has been marked by transparency and integrity.

However, with the recent government change, the winds of transformation have also swept through the cricket board, with Bobby being the first target. The demand for his forced resignation, and his subsequent refusal, has stirred up significant controversy within the cricketing community.

The National Sports Council (NSC) asked two of their appointed board directors to step down to make way for Faruk Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim. Following the directive, Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the BCB's Cricket Operations Committee, promptly submitted his resignation. However, Bobby, the chairman of the Tournament Committee, is resisting the pressure to resign. He insists that any decision should be made through proper elections next year or that the NSC should remove him if they so wish—he will not resign voluntarily.

Speaking to BDCricTime, Bobby said, "The NSC Secretary invited me for a morning tea. I asked if there was something urgent since it’s difficult to go so early. He then informed me that I need to resign from the positions of councilor and director. I replied, ‘You made me a councilor from NSC, and that’s why I’m a director. If you have other plans, go ahead, just let me know.’"

Bobby has made his position clear to the National Sports Council: he will not resign. The current BCB committee's tenure runs until September next year, after which elections are scheduled. The NSC can relieve him of his duties if they wish, but such intervention could risk an ICC ban.

Bobby has served the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in various capacities since 1983. Despite not being given any committee responsibilities for eight years under Nazmul Hassan Papon’s presidency, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Tournament Committee in 2022, while others with less experience hold more significant roles.
