Samit Dravid, son of the legendary Rahul Dravid, has been selected for India's Under-19 squad for the first time, ahead of the multi-format home series against Australia Under-19 scheduled for September and October. This marks a significant milestone in Samit's budding cricket career, following his recent appearance in the Maharaja T20 Trophy for Mysuru Warriors.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads on Saturday, August 31. The series will feature three 50-over matches in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26, followed by two four-day games in Chennai starting on September 30 and October 7.

Samit Dravid, an allrounder, has shown promise at the domestic level. In the Maharaja T20 Trophy, he batted in the middle order, scoring 82 runs at a strike rate of 114 across seven innings. Though his performance with the bat was modest, Samit is recognized for his all-round abilities, having played a key role in Karnataka's victory in the Cooch Behar Trophy earlier this year. He amassed 362 runs and claimed 16 wickets, showcasing his potential as a future star.

Leading the India Under-19 50-over squad is Mohamed Amaan, a middle-order batter from Uttar Pradesh, while Madhya Pradesh's Soham Patwardhan will captain the team in the four-day format. Both Amaan and Patwardhan bring considerable domestic experience to the squad, making them valuable assets for the series.

Samit Dravid's inclusion in both the 50-over and four-day squads is a testament to his growing reputation in Indian cricket. As he steps into the spotlight, all eyes will be on him to see if he can follow in the footsteps of his father, Rahul Dravid, who is one of India's cricketing greats.
