Former India captain Sachin Tendulkar has released a heartfelt message on the anniversary of legendary spinner Shane Warne's death, saying he misses him not only as a great cricketer but also as a great friend. Warne died of a heart attack on March 4, 2022.

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar delivered a heartfelt message for legendary leg spinner Shane Warne on the anniversary of his death. Recalling their on-field rivalry as well as their friendship off-field, Sachin Tendulkar said he misses the Australian player not only as a great cricketer but also as a great friend.

On the first anniversary of Warne's death, the Master Blaster wrote a touching tribute to the late leg spinner on Twitter, saying he was certain Warne would use his sense of humor and charisma to make heaven a more charming place.

“We've had some memorable fights on the field and shared equally memorable moments off the field. I miss you not only as a great cricketer but also as a great friend. I'm sure you make heaven a more adorable place than ever with your sense of humor and charisma Warnie!" Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

Former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman and Warnes team-mate Adam Gilchrist also paid tribute to the late spinner on social media, saying it was a dream to have played with him.

"To the man who inspired me to chase a dream and to the guy who was a dream to have by my side, may you both continue to #RIP," Gilchrist wrote on Twitter.

Warne is the second highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history with 708 wickets in 145 matches. He played for Australia between 1992 and 2007 and held the record for most wickets in red ball cricket until he was surpassed by Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. He took a total of 1,001 international wickets, having also won 293 in 194 one-day international matches.
