India 'A' have announced their squad for the upcoming series against Australia 'A', commences from October 31. Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the side in the series and Abhimanyu Easwaran to be his deputy.

Gaikwad, who has started his Ranji Trophy season with scores of 86, 0 and 145 for Maharashtra, is one of the contenders for the role of backup opener for India's Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan will have a fight among them to be India's backup opener in the BGT series. And the significance of the backup opener has risen to the fullest as captain and opener Rohit Sharma is set to miss the first Test against Australia. 

India A are will play Australia A in two four-day matches in Mackay from October 31 to November 3 and in Melbourne from November 7 to 10.

Ans then They will play against the India squad for an intra-squad warm-up match in Perth from November 15 to 17, as the first Test against Australia commences from November 22.
