February 2019. India - Pakistan border conflict is a hot topic.​ ​ BCCI Committee of Administrators chief Vinod Rai suggested that cricketers who play PSL should not be allowed to play in IPL. If that proposal had been implemented, the scenario of franchise cricket might have changed, but luckily it didn't happen in the end. But still, many cricketers are seen playing in either of the two leagues. Like Jason Roy is playing PSL but has withdrawn from IPL. Why?

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Shakib Al Hasan from the auction in the last edition of IPL. But when Shakib stepped down without playing a match, English batter Jason Roy was taken in his place. That Roy is supposed to play for Kolkata. But suddenly he withdrew from IPL.

But Roy is playing well in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Now sitting on the field of PSL, the English star asked why he chose PSL but said 'no' to IPL.

Roy claims that he has withdrawn from the IPL to be with his family. He said, "After much consideration, I have made the tough decision to miss this year's IPL. Having been away since the start of January I need to get back to my family and have a refresh before a very busy year ahead. I will be supporting my friends and teammates at KKR throughout the tournament and wish them the best of luck.”

However, this is not the first time that Roy has withdrawn from the IPL. After making his IPL debut in 2017, he withdrew in 2020 due to personal reasons. After playing for Delhi Capitals in 2021, he withdrew again in 2022 due to personal reasons. After playing for Kolkata in 2023, he once again said 'no' to IPL in 2024, where all the cricketers of the world are looking forward to playing in IPL.
