Rony Talukdar’s outstanding century has propelled Dhaka Division to a commanding position against Barishal Division in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL).

Barishal had earlier set a target of 289 runs in their first innings. Dhaka’s response was anchored by Rony, who scored a patient 112 off 202 balls, laced with 16 fours and a six.

Despite early blows, with opener Jishan Alam departing for 19 off 23 balls and key batters Mosaddek Hossain and Shuvagata Hom failing to make significant contributions, Dhaka managed to recover through crucial partnerships. Rony forged a 58-run stand with Taibur Rahman, who added a steady 32 off 72 balls, and later a vital 57-run partnership with Sumon Khan, who remains unbeaten on 35 off 95 balls. Alongside Enamul Haque (22* off 23), Sumon ensured Dhaka ended the day with a 14-run lead and three wickets in hand.

Meanwhile, in the match between Rajshahi Division and Sylhet Division, spinner Nihaduzzaman delivered a remarkable performance, claiming four wickets to restrict Sylhet to 212 runs, giving Rajshahi a slender 14-run lead. Sylhet had started the day strongly with a solid 88-run partnership between Pinak Ghosh and Amite Hasan, who scored 58 and 53, respectively. However, Nihad’s sharp spin bowling dismantled the middle-order, ensuring Sylhet couldn’t capitalize on their start. In their second innings, Rajshahi posted a promising 62-run opening stand, led by SM Meherob’s 32 off 43 balls. However, a sudden collapse saw them lose three quick wickets, leaving them at 70/3 by stumps with an overall lead of 84 runs.
