32-year-old opener Rony Talukdar has been called up for the remaining two ODIs of the series against Afghanistan in place of Tamim Iqbal.

Bangladesh's sports arena is busy with the Tamim issue. Suddenly, there is more talk about Tamim's retirement issue than the fact that Bangladesh will play the second ODI against Afghanistan tomorrow. With no opener, BCB is forced to look for alternatives.

Rony has been taken into the team instead of Tamim for the remaining two ODIs in Chattogram. Rony made his debut against Ireland in Chelmsford last May. However, the 32-year-old cricketer could not do well in the debut match. He scored 4 runs off 14 balls in the match.

Apart from Rony, there are two other openers in the squad. Litton, who has been given the responsibility of leading the team in the absence of Tamim, and left-handed batter Naim Sheikh, who has been called into the team for this series.

Naim got into the team after spending a great season with the bat in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). In the absence of Tamim, Naim may get a chance in the XI in the second match tomorrow. In that case, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may have selected Rony as a backup.
