According to reports, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma received three traffic complaints for over speeding on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The incident occurred when the opening batsman was on his way to Pune for the Indian team's next match against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19.
According to reports, Sharma was driving at a speed of more than 200 km/h, resulting in three online traffic citations being issued against his vehicle for reckless driving.
Speaking about Rohit's reckless driving, a transport department source said: "It is not advisable for an Indian captain to drive at high speed in the middle of a World Cup. He should be traveling in a team bus with a police car."
The Indian captain has been convicted of speeding three times as he prepares to lead the team in the high-profile World Cup clash against Bangladesh on Thursday.
Team India suffered their only loss in the Asia Cup against Bangladesh in the Super 4 clash and will be out for revenge. India played without their star players including Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. However, Shakib Al Hasan and Co. will face a full Indian team in Pune on Thursday.
Rohit Sharma is India’s leading run-getter in this edition so far, with 217 runs in three matches.
