KL Rahul’s position in India's Test side is under scrutiny as the team prepares to kick off a challenging season with a two-Test series against Bangladesh. Rahul, who has played 50 Tests with an average of 34.08, finds himself competing against emerging talents like Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel.
India captain Rohit Sharma, however, remains supportive of Rahul, praising his quality and stating that the management has provided clear guidance. "We wanted him to play all games... It is our duty as well to bring the best out of him."
Rahul's last major contribution was an impressive 86 before injury kept him out of action. Now, the management hopes that moving him to the middle-order might help him rediscover his form. "He’s got the game to play the spin and seamers," Rohit said, backing Rahul to succeed in Test cricket.
Gautam Gambhir, in his first series as head coach since taking over, will lead India through the challenges ahead. On working with India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir, Rohit added, "We have a good understanding. Everyone has their own style, but there have been no problems or issues. The important thing is that we have a clear understanding with the coaching staff."
