Rob Walter has stepped down as the white-ball head coach of South Africa due to personal reasons. The proteas are yet to name a replacement of Walter.

Rob WalterIn 2023, South Africa appointed Rob Walter to replace Mark Boucher as their white-ball head coach and they had a deal of four years, until 2027 Cricket World Cup. But Walter has resigned two years earlier of the deadline of the deal.

“Coaching the Proteas has been an incredible honour, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together,” Walter was quoted as saying in a statement.

“The players, support staff, and the South African cricketing community have been fantastic throughout this journey. While it’s time for me to step away, I have no doubt that the team will continue to grow and reach even greater heights, Walter added.

During Walter's tenure, South Africa have reached to the final of ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbeans, whereas the proteas lost the final against the Indian side. They also played semifinal in the 2023 Cricket World Cup and 2025 ICC Men's Champions Trophy.

Walter served as the head coach in 36 ODI's and 31 T20I's where South Africa secured series wins against the Netherlands, Australia, Pakistan and Ireland.
