In a disturbing development Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has reportedly received a death threat via email from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ just days after he publicly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed the lives of at least 26 civilians

According to reports by India Today and ANI, Gambhir received a chilling email that simply read " I kill you."

This came just a day after Gambhir posted on X (formerly Twitter) strongly denouncing the horrific violence in Pahalgam:

"Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike."

Authorities believe the threat may have been a reaction to this statement.

Following the email Gambhir immediately filed a police complaint prompting swift action. The cyber cell has launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender. Security around the former cricketer has been reportedly increased.

According to reports This isn’t the first time Gambhir has faced such threats. In November 2021 he also received a similar threat email during his tenure as a Member of Parliament.

Gambhir who was appointed India’s head coach earlier last year recently returned from a family vacation in France. Under his leadership India has had a mixed run including series defeats in Sri Lanka and Australia, a home Test series whitewash against New Zealand but most notably, a Champions Trophy 2025 victory which helped ease some pressure.

The incident has shocked cricket fans and is likely to prompt increased security measures for the Indian team and its staff. While there has been no official comment yet from the BCCI strong support from the cricketing fraternity and the public is expected in the wake of this threat.
