Rajasthan eliminates RCB to reach to the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangaluru by 4 wickets on Thursday (23rd May) at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabd. Exception spell of Ravichandran Ashwin and Avesh Khan marginalised RCB to a sub par total of 173. In reply, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rovman Powell's collective batting performances helped Rajasthan Royals enter into the Qualifier 2.
Rajasthan Royals now will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2 on Friday in pursuit of the final of IPL 2024.
Earlier, being asked to bat first, RCB didn’t have a solid way to start their innings. Trent Boult bowled a fantastic opening spell and removed RCB skipper Faf du Plessis earlier on. Virat Kohli got a fine start and scored 33 off 24 balls but couldn’t make it a big innings as Yuzvendra Chahal got him out.
It was Ravichandran Ashwin at his best, he removed Aussie all-rounder duo of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell in consecutive deliveries to leave RCB stutter at 122-5. However, Mahipal Lomror's brilliant cameo of 32 off 17 deliveries helped RCB post 172 on the board.
Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 2 wickets to his name, while Avesh Khan had three.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom Cohler-Cadmore gave RR a decent start in pursuit of 173. Despite the Englishman's wicket, Samson and Jaiswal stitched on partnership and at a poinr of the matc, RR were cruising to the victory. But a clutch breakthrough from Cameron Green brought RCB back into the game, Green removed settled Jaiswal and RR faltered in the middle order.
However, their talismanic batter Riyan Parag took the onus on his shoulders and scored a fine cameo of 36 off 26 balls. Hetmayer came down the order to flourish the innings as he blazed 26 off 14 balls. Rovamn Powell's arrival made the game a cakewalk for RR at the end.
With the win RR will now face SRH on Friday (24th May) in Chennai for the Qualifier 2.
