The Sri Lanka and New Zealand Test match has spiced up. New Zealand need 68 runs and they have only two wickets left. Their only batter is Rachin Ravindra, who is standing on 91* and Kiwis will be hoping from him to deliver on the last day.
New Zealand had 275 runs target and this was always a tough ask in this kind of pitch. Asitha Fernando removed Devon Conway earlier on. Tom Latham had a good start but departed after scoring 28 to Dhananjaya De Silva. Kane Williamson too had a start and made 30 off 46 balls before falling to Prabath Jayasuriya.
Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips couldn’t do anything as they got out inside single digit. However, it was Rachin Ravindra who stepped up for the visitors, scoring the bulk of the runs and made an excellent 91* off 158 balls.
New Zealand are on 207-8 and they need 68 runs more with only Ravindra is there as the last recognised batter. Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis got enough purchase from the pitch and Sri Lanka are certainly favourites in this Test match.
But if the last two lower order batters give enough support to Rachin Ravindra, then New Zealand are on the way for a historic Test match victory away from home.
