South Africa have roped in Kwena Maphaka as Coetzee’s replacement for the second Test.

Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lankna, including the entire South Africa summer due to a groin injury. South Africa have now lost two key players for the Test summer.

Coetzee sustained this injury while bowling on fourth day of the opening Test against Sri Lanka. Medical reports then confirmed a strain in his right groin muscle and the recovery timeline is of 4 to 6 weeks.
South Africa have roped in Kwena Maphaka as Coetzee’s replacement for the second Test. Maphaka was a breakout performer at the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup earlier this year, he was the top the wicket-taker in the showcase event with 21 dismissals in just six matches.
Earlier on Friday, all-rounder Wiaan Mulder was also ruled out of the Sri Lanka series after picking up a fracture to his right middle finger. Young batter Matthew Breetzke was named as his replacement in the squad for the upcoming Test, which is set to be played from 5 December in Gqeberha.

South Africa had an emphatic 233-run victory in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Durban, which helped them take down the Aussies and sit at the second position firmly.
