The ACC intends to commence the media rights bidding process for the Asia Cup within the next month, after consulting with Indian broadcasting firms.
As per a Cricbuzz report, the ACC is considering offering both four-year and eight-year contracts, but broadcasters appear to prefer the longer duration. The tender will encompass four Asia Cup events, comprising two 50-over tournaments and two Twenty20 competitions.
To circumvent controversy, the ACC will stipulate that Asia Cups will take place at locations other than India and Pakistan. This measure seeks to mitigate challenges such as those encountered in the previous tournament, which adopted a hybrid format due to India's reluctance to compete in Pakistan.
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the UAE, and Oman are among the potential hosts considered for upcoming tournaments.
The preceding media rights agreement amounted to approximately $80 million for four editions. ACC foresees a rise in value, particularly with the potential inclusion of two to three India-Pakistan matches per edition.
