Lucknow Super Giants thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets on Thursday (March 27). Shardul Thakur's four wicket-haul restricted the explosive SRH batting lineup to 190 runs. In reply, Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh blazed fifties to storm into the target.
Being asked to bat first, SRH lost their gun opener Abhishek Sharma earlier on to Shardul Thakur and then he had Ishan Kishan for a golden duck as SRH fell in trouble earlier on. However, Travis Head started off to a flier, helping to shift the momentum as he raced his way to 47 off just 28 deliveries before his departure to Prince Yadav.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen then stitched a little partnership together before Heinrich Klaasen fell in an unlucky run-out after his 26 off 17 balls. That brought in Aniket Verma, who blastsd a blazing 36 off 13 balls, while the SRH skipper Pat Cummins hit three sixes on the trot to help their side get to 190 on the board.
In reply, Mohammed Shami removed Aiden Markram cheaply. But Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran joined together for an onslaught, the duo added 77 runs inside the powerplay. And then went for adding a total of 116 runs off just 43 balls on their stand before the departure of Marsh after his superb 52 off 31 balls. Nicholas Pooran smashed an incredible knock of 70 off 26 deliveries, including six sixes and six boundaries as LSG were inching closer to the victory. Abdul Samad came in to give the finish, smashing 22* off 8 balls as LSG chased down the total with 5 wickets in hands and four overs to go.
