Ishan Kishan (born 18 July 1998) is an Indian international cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper batsman for the Indian national cricket team. He made his international debut against England in March 2021. He plays for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for Jharkhand in domestic cricket.

In December 2022, in a One Day International (ODI) match against Bangladesh, he scored 210 runs in 131 balls, becoming the youngest cricketer to score an ODI double century and the first to score a maiden ODI century in one Double Century converted. The innings was also the fastest double century in an ODI.
He was the captain of the Indian squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Early Life
Ishan Kishan was born on July 18, 1998 in Bihar in a Bhumihar Brahmin family. He hails from a small town Nawada in Bihar. His father, Pranav Kumar Pandey, is a builder by profession in Patna. Due to registration issues between the Bihar Cricket Association and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Ishan started playing for the neighboring state of Jharkhand.
Domestic Career
On 6 November 2016, Kishan scored 273 runs against Delhi in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy, setting a new player's record for Jharkhand in the competition. He was the leading run-scorer for Jharkhand in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy with 484 runs in six matches and in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 405 runs in nine matches.
In October 2018, he was named in India's C squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy and scored a century in the final of the tournament. In February 2019, he scored an unbeaten century against Jammu and Kashmir in the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the next game, against Manipur, he scored 113, failing to record two consecutive centuries in the tournament.
In August 2019, he was named in the India Red squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy and in October in the India A squad for the same competition. In February 2021, on the opening day of the 2020–21 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kishan scored 173 runs against Madhya Pradesh, part of a record score of 422.
Indian Premier League
In 2016, Kishan was purchased by the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL auction. In 2018, he was purchased by Mumbai Indians in the 2018 auction. With 516 runs from 14 matches, he was the highest run-scorer for Mumbai in the 2020 season and won the award for most sixes during the season.
Ahead of the 2022 IPL, Kishan was again purchased by Mumbai for ₹15.25 crore (equivalent to ₹16 crore or US$2.0 million in 2023), making him the second most expensive Indian player at the auction after Yuvraj Singh.
International Career
In February 2021, Ishan was named in India's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the home series against England. It was his first international call-up and he made his debut on March 14, 2021, scoring 56 off 32 balls. He won the Player of the Match award.
In June 2021, he was named in India's One Day International (ODI) and T20I squads for the tour of Sri Lanka. He made his ODI debut on the tour in July, scoring 59 off 42 balls. In September, he was named in India's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
In October 2022, in the second of three ODIs against the touring South Africans, Kishan scored his then-highest ODI career score of 93 runs, before becoming the youngest and fastest player to score a double century in an ODI at 24 years and 145 days December during India's tour of Bangladesh.
He scored 210 runs in 131 balls and reached the 200-run mark in 126 balls, surpassing Chris Gayle's record of 138 balls. He also became the first player to convert a maiden ODI century into a double century and the fourth Indian player to score a double century in an ODI.
