The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday confirmed three appointments to the men's national selection committee which will select the seniors, shaheens and under-19 sides.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed three people to the men's national selection committee. The selection committee, consisting of Haroon Rashid as chairman, Hassan Cheema as selection committee secretary and manager of analytics and team strategy for the men's national team, Mickey Arthur as director of the men's national team, and Grant Bradburn as head coach of the men's national team, will select the seniors , Shaheens and U19 teams.
"The presence of Cheema, who has worked as a strategy manager and data analyst in franchise cricket around the world, Arthur and Bradburn will assist in strategizing for the forthcoming and upcoming series, bolstering bench strength and providing a suitable path for high-performing players at Shaheens .” and U19 teams to advance to the national team,” the cricket governing body said in a statement.
It should be noted that the committee's first main task is to select players for next month's fast bowling and spin bowling camps in Lahore. The names of the selected players will be announced in due course.
Sethi revealed the names in an interview with BBC Urdu and said Cheema is currently the strategy manager for Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Islamabad United.
"We like to include data in our selection and Hassan is an expert in this area," Sethi added.
Arthur is now part of the coaching staff for the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, the away tour to Australia and the home series against the West Indies. He will also be present with the team at the ACC Asia Cup match between Pakistan and India.
During his tenure from 2016 to 2019, Arthur coached Pakistan to No. 1 in Tests and T20Is and also helped the team win the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
Last week, the PCB announced the appointment of Grant Bradburn as head coach of the men's national team for a two-year period. Bradburn previously served as head coach of the Pakistan side in an advisory capacity during the recently concluded home series against New Zealand.
