The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced Abdul Rehman and Umar Gul as the head and bowling coaches of the Pakistan team for the three-game T20I series against Afghanistan later this month.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed former Pakistani cricketer Abdul Rehman as head coach for the upcoming Afghanistan T20I series.

Abdul Rehman is an experienced coach who has served on national level assignments. He was the head coach of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when they won the National T20 and Pakistan Cup and shared the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with Central Punjab. He also won two National T20s as the head coach of the Peshawar Panthers and was an assistant coach to Peshawar Zalmi when they won the 2017 HBL Pakistan Super League.

One of the most famous T20 bowlers in Pakistan, Umar Gul was Afghanistan's bowling coach at the recent ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup 2022. From 2007 to 2016 he won 85 wickets at 16.97 in 60 T20Is.

Pakistan will head to the United Arab Emirates on March 22nd to play Afghanistan in three T20Is in Sharjah on March 24th, 26th and 27th. This is the first meeting between the two sides in a bilateral series. Pakistan and Afghanistan have played three T20Is and four One-Day Internationals, and Pakistan has emerged victorious each time.

It may be noted here that on Monday, PCB named a redesigned 15-strong squad captained by Shadab Khan for the upcoming T20I series.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam was rested along with Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi while four uncapped players namely Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, Tayyab Tahir and Zaman Khan were added to the squad.

Abdullah Shafique, Azam Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Imad Wasim have been recalled to the T20I national team.
