After winning the T20I series 2-1, Sri Lanka is set to face the West Indies in a three-match ODI series, starting on October 20 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. However, Sri Lanka’s opener Pathum Nissanka is expected to miss the first match, as he hasn’t fully recovered from an injury sustained during the recent T20I series. Nissanka, who played through the pain in the series, is likely to be rested to allow for a full recovery.

In Nissanka’s absence, Kusal Mendis is expected to open alongside Avishka Fernando. The man in form Kamindu Mendis is also likely to step up to fill the crucial No. 3 position. On the bowling front, Sri Lanka will welcome the return of star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, who missed the previous series against India due to an injury. Hasaranga will lead the spin attack alongside Jeffrey Vandersay and Dunith Wellalage, forming a formidable three-pronged spin unit.

Nissanka’s blistering over, which saw him score 25 runs, was a highlight of the match, helping Sri Lanka secure a dominant 73-run victory.
