Double centuries are common in Test cricket, but not in ODIs. A double century can be seen in 50-over cricket only if one plays very well. Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka had a very good game day.  

In the first match of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, Nissanka scored an extraordinary double-century with explosive batting. He survived till the end by playing an impeccable innings of 210 runs off 139 balls. And by playing this inning, Nissanka became the owner of the first double-century in ODIs for Sri Lanka.

Nissanka hit a great double century by dominating the Afghan bowlers. Due to his extraordinary batting, Sri Lanka batted first and lost 3 wickets in 50 overs to collect a mountain of 381 runs. Nissanka's epic innings saw the 12th double century in ODI cricket. Nissanka is the first Sri Lankan here.

India's Rohit Sharma has scored the most 3 double-centuries in ODIs. Indians are the winners in this list. Apart from Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan have scored double centuries in ODIs. Indian batters have scored a total of 7 ODI double-centuries. New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, West Indies and lastly Sri Lanka have made it to the list. All countries have one batter.

Martin Guptill has seen a double century in ODIs for New Zealand, Glenn Maxwell for Australia, Fakhar Zaman for Pakistan, Chris Gayle for West Indies, and Pathum Nisasnka has hit a double century for Sri Lanka.

However, Bangladesh is yet to be named in this list. Litton Das' innings of 176 runs is the highest individual innings of Bangladeshis in ODI so far.
