Parvez Hossain Emon’s Record-Breaking Fifty: Fastest by a Bangladeshi in List A

The fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi batter in List A was 18 balls, which was achieved by Farhad Reza and previously held by Nazmul Hossain Milon before Emon.  There was a 2019 Dhaka Premier League (DPL) game between Prime Doleshwar and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi. Farhad hit 56 runs off of 20 balls.

It didn't take Abahani Limited long to reach their small goal of 89 runs—it only took them 6.4 overs, or 40 balls, to do it in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) on Sunday.  Parvez Hossain Emon led the charge with an unbeaten 61 off just 23 balls.

But what really made the news?  Emon got to fifty in just 15 balls, which is a new record for the fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi in List A cricket.  Not only did his big hit win the game, it also changed the course of domestic cricket history.

But now Emon is at the top of that list.  Not only was it the fastest fifty ever scored by a Bangladeshi in the DPL, it was also the fastest score ever scored by a Bangladeshi in any known domestic cricket league.

Before Emon, Shuvagata Hom had the fastest fifty in any type of recognised Bangladeshi cricket. He hit the mark in 16 balls in a 2019 DPL T20 match against Mohammedan Sporting Club.

That being said, Kusal Perera of Sri Lanka still holds the world record for the fastest List A fifty.  He hit 50 off of just 12 balls against Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club in Sri Lanka's Premier Limited Overs Tournament in 2005.

With his fifty off of 15 balls, Emon is now tied for fourth place on the list of the fastest fifties ever in List A cricket around the world.
