However, his wicketkeeping skills is something he needs to improve a lot. He came under fire for his poor wicket-keeping skills during India's recent outings. Meanwhile, Chief selector MSK Prasad said that Rishabh Pant will have to work a lot on his skills and that is why he will train under a specialist wicket-keeping coach.
"Pant needs to improve his keeping skills. We will have him work under a specialist wicket-keeping coach," MSK Prasad was quoted as saying by PTI.
Rishabh Pant failed to perform with the bat during the 3rd and final ODI against West Indies in Cuttack on Sunday. To make things much worse, he was once again sloppy behind the wickets.
"As a 21 (22) year-old, Rishabh Pant has a lot of unnecessary pressure. When I was 21, I did not have that much pressure. I was sitting down on the bench... you know... cleaning Sir Vivian Richards's boots or doing something... getting ready to play international cricket," Lara added.
"I think the burden is unnecessary. He should be allowed to play and allowed to express himself. Don't feel it's a do-or-die situation," Lara added in a statement.
