Pakistan have released spinner Abrar Ahmed and batter Kamran Ghulam from their national Test squad for the first match of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Both players have been included in the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the ongoing four-day series against Bangladesh A. As a result, Abrar and Kamran will not be part of the national team for the Rawalpindi Test.

Abrar was the only spinner in Pakistan’s Test squad, and his absence means that the Rawalpindi match will now feature a completely pace-dependent bowling attack. This suggests that Pakistan's pacers are preparing to test Bangladesh’s batters on a green, bouncy wicket in Rawalpindi.

After nearly a year out due to injury, pacer Naseem Shah is set to return for Pakistan. The pace attack also includes Shaheen Shah Afridi, Khurram Shehzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, and Aamer Jamal, although Aamer is uncertain to play in the first Test due to injury. In the recent series against Australia, Aamer was Pakistan's top pacer, taking 18 wickets and contributing some crucial runs. However, his chances of playing in Rawalpindi are slim due to his injury.

Kamran Ghulam and Abrar Ahmed will play for Pakistan Shaheens in the second four-day match against Bangladesh A, while Mir Hamza and Naseem Shah, who played in the first match, will join the national team for the Test series. Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed will also feature in the second match for Bangladesh A. The match is set to begin on August 20.

For the first Test against Bangladesh, Pakistan is expected to field a pace-heavy lineup on the bouncy, pace-friendly pitch at Rawalpindi. The spin bowling duties will likely fall on part-time off-spinner Salman Agha. The first Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan is scheduled to start on August 21.
