Despite recent speculations about Shakib Al Hasan’s possible return to Test cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has now confirmed its squad for the upcoming Test series against the West Indies, and Shakib is not included. Following the Afghanistan series, the Bangladesh team will depart for a full tour of the West Indies, beginning with two Test matches in Antigua.

The announced squad remains largely consistent with the lineup from the second Test against South Africa, with Mahidul Islam Ankon and Zakir Hasan retaining their spots as wicketkeeper options. After missing the Afghanistan series due to illness, Litton Das is set to rejoin the team for the Test series. However, Mushfiqur Rahim, currently sidelined by injury, remains out of the lineup and will also miss both Tests against the West Indies.

With the tour's conditions in mind, pacer Taskin Ahmed returns to the squad, while spinner Nayeem Hasan is omitted. This selection adds depth to the pace attack with the likes of Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, and Shoriful Islam. Veteran spinner Taijul Islam and all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz round out the spin department. Young left-arm spinner Hasan Murad retains his place in the squad, still awaiting his Test debut.

Though Najmul Hossain Shanto had previously considered stepping down from his captaincy role, he continues as team captain for this series, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz serving as vice-captain. Bangladesh will kick off the series with the first Test on November 22 in North Sound, Antigua, with the second and final Test scheduled for November 30. This Test series will then be followed by separate ODI and T20I series between Bangladesh and the West Indies.
