BPL to loss it's attraction for Global T-20 League

Once the franchise of Sylhet emerged in the name of ‘Sylhet Royals’ which had been changed into ‘Sylhet Superstars’. In the privy of the fifth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League 2017, the franchise has once again decided to alter its’ name. [বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ 'সুরমা সিক্সার্স' নামে আপত্তি বিসিবির!] ‘Surma Sixers’ is the proposed new name of the team by the franchise authorities with an aim to pay tribute to the traditional Surma river run along the district of Sylhet. But BPL Governing Council said only ‘Surma Sixers’ will not be eligible as the name of a franchise team as there is no hints of the district name in it. After the meeting of BPL Governing Council on Monday, authorities have told there must be the name of the district in it. Member Secretary of BPL Governing Council Ismail Haider Mollick revealed they have not yet received any formal application to change the name of Sylhet. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, “There is no scope to name a franchise team without the name of its district. Only Surma Sixers is not eligible to name.”
