Mumbai Indians opened up their account of this season of IPL by beating Delhi Capitals by on Sunday (7th April). Tim David and Romario Shepherd's onslaught in the last four overs gave a massive fuel to Mumbai Indians innings, which propelled them to 234-5. But despite Tristan Stubbs and Prithvi Shaw's heroics, Delhi Capitals were 29 runs shy of the target.

Romario Shepherd smacked a monstrous 39* run knock to fuel Mumbai Indians to their maiden win of the season.
When Romario Shepherd came to the crease Mumbai Indians were on 181-5 off 17.5 overs. Shepard didn’t take time to get going, he was well supported by the Aussie behemoth Tim David. The duo blazed 53 run partnership of just 13 balls and fueled Mumbai's innings at the backend of the innings. In this quick-fire stand, Shepherd was the main accelerator smacking a monstrous 39 off 10 balls, including a 32 off the last over of Anrich Nortje. Shepherd after the post match presentation said his hard work has paid off.

"My hard work has paid off. I have put in a lot of hard work in the nets. I think you just have to keep a clear mind (when batting at the end). He (Tim David) said no you stay there (strike) and you hit. I was in a good position to capitalise on that ball. I tried to keep it 50-50 because I don't want to lean on one side, so 50-50 on batting and bowling. (On where the power comes from) Eating a lot of food I guess, some of it Indian as well (smiles)." - Romario Shepherd.

Mumbai Indians next assignment is Royal Challengers Bangaluru on 11th April in a home game affair. Mumbai have just won one match in their 4 matches they've played till now.
