Bangladesh pace bowling consultant Charl Langeveldt, on Saturday, has said that young pacer Mustafizur Rahman is given rest from the one-off Test series against Afghanistan as a precaution to keep himself fit for the forthcoming grueling international schedule.
"At the moment, he is carrying a niggle and we decided to rest him for that due to precaution because we have lot of white ball cricket coming up.
"The T20 World Cup is coming up. We have to look after him because he is our best bowler in T20 and 50 over format," Langeveldt said.
23-year old Mustafizur was left out of the Test squad after suffering a back injury during the conditioning camp.
When asked whether the team will miss the service of Mustafizur or not, Langeveldt answered in affirmative and said he is a good bowler but managing workload upon him is essential
"Yeah, who will not miss Mustafiz? He is a good bowler. If you don't miss him, then something wrong with you. He is a good bowler.
"So we are going to miss him, but we have to deal with this type of things as well. You have to make sure that you have backup. If he's injured he needs backup as well.
"Yeah, it's about managing workload because coincidentally it is a Test game and you are playing with a niggle which is gonna make him worse," he said.
Langeveldt assisted that the condition here is difficult for fast bowlers. The newly appointed pace bowling coach said all he is insisting is to maintain consistency.
"But I know in this condition it's very tough for pace bowler. I am very excited they learn this. For now, it is just to get consistency. Consistency means able to bowl four out of six in the right area, making the batsmen play, bringing him forward. And that's my big focus for now," he said.
