Pakistan's spin legend, Mushtaq Ahmed, has rejoined Bangladesh’s coaching staff ahead of the upcoming home series against South Africa.

Mushtaq, who had previously worked with the team during the T20 World Cup and the Pakistan tour, was unable to accompany the squad on their India tour due to commitments with the England Under-19 coaching team. However, his return is timely as Bangladesh gears up for their first Test against South Africa, scheduled to be held in Dhaka.

The conditions in Mirpur are expected to favor spin, making Mushtaq’s expertise crucial for Bangladesh's spinners, such as Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam. His influence could be pivotal in exploiting the spin-friendly conditions, helping the team maximize their home advantage.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is reportedly keen on securing Mushtaq Ahmed as the permanent spin-bowling coach, but his current contract with the England Cricket Board (ECB), which runs until December, prevents a full-time commitment. Despite this, Mushtaq is playing an important role as a part-time coach for the Bangladesh team.
