Kolkata Knight Riders beat Mumbai Indians by 24 runs on Friday (3rd May). After 12 years KKR have beaten MI at the Wankhede Stadium. It was Venkatesh Iyer's gutsy knock with the bat and then Mitchell Starc's late heroic which thrashed MI by 24 runs. With this defeat, Mumbai Indians have now officially out of the IPL 2024.

Mumbai Indians have had a tough season so far. Given the new captain in Hardik Pandya, they haven’t really flourished in his stint. They've played 11 matches till now and won only 3, against DC, RCB and PBKS. After losing to KKR last night, they are officially out of the race of top four qualification.

They're standing on 9th after Friday defeat after playing 11 matches, they'll have 3 more matches but those are nothing really speacial as even if they manage to win all of them they'll eventually be out of the IPL.

While, Rajasthan Royals have firmly taken the number one spot, being consistent from the very beginning and KKR have consolidated their second position after tomorrow's brilliant victory over MI. Lucknow Super Giants are standing on 3rd, while Pat Cummins' SRH are on 4th. Newly appointed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's CSK are at 5.

IPL's qualification/eliminator matches are set to commence from 21st May with the Qualifier 1.
