MS Dhoni, the legendary former Indian cricket captain, is facing legal scrutiny from the Jharkhand State Housing Board regarding the alleged commercial use of his residential property in Ranchi. An inquiry has been launched into whether Dhoni’s property on Harmu Road, originally designated for residential purposes, is being used for commercial activities.
The controversy centers around Dhoni's previous residence, a plot spread across 10,000 square feet that was awarded to him by the Jharkhand government in recognition of his remarkable achievements in international cricket. According to reports, a diagnostic lab has been established on this property, which prompted the authorities to investigate the matter. The use of residential land for commercial purposes is deemed illegal under local regulations.
The chairman of the Jharkhand Housing Board, Sanjay Lal Paswan, confirmed that complaints had been received, and officials have been asked to look into the matter. If the allegations are proven, a notice will be issued to Dhoni.
“We have received complaints and instructed officials to investigate. If the allegations are proven, a notice will be issued to Dhoni,” Paswan was quoted as saying by Times of India. This isn’t the first time Dhoni’s Harmu Road property has come under the spotlight. Back in 2015, inquiries were raised about an additional adjacent plot that was allegedly acquired illegally. Although that issue was resolved, the new allegations have revived concerns about the property’s intended usage.
MS Dhoni currently resides in a sprawling seven-acre property on Simaliya Ring Road, Ranchi, which serves as his primary home. The Harmu Road property, however, continues to be a point of legal contention.
