Australia are on top in the Adelaide Test after the day one. Mitchell Starc's career-best Test bowling figure of 48-6 bundled India for a paltry 180 runs. In reply, Nathan McSweeney's gritty 38* helped Australia finish the day with 86-1.
Mitchell Starc then came in and removed KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in quick succession, before Boland trapped Shubman Gill for LBW as India were reduced from 61-1 to 82-4. Mitchell Starc kept steaming in and India lost wickets at regular intervals.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Nitish Kumar Reddy then stitched a little fine partnership which helped them get over 140, especially it was Reddy whose quick-fire 42 aided India get to 180.
Mitchell Starc led Australia off the field as his career-best 48-6 helped the Aussies restrict India inside 200.
In reply, Australia started cautiously as Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney were tested by Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah's new ball spells. But Australia had done superbly, losing only one wicket of Usman Khawaja to Bumrah.
But since then it was Australia's phase, young opener McSweeny was solid on his defence and once he got settled he played some elegant shots to unsettle the Indian bowlers.
McSweeny and Labuschagne stitched an unbeaten 62* off 133 balls to help Aussies go to the stumps unscathed. Australia are trailing indiaby 94 runs and they've 9 more wickets in their hands.
