Former Bangladesh Mashrafe Bin Mortaza congratulated Bangladesh after the win against Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup. Especially he mentioned captain Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s name. He praised Miraz highly.
Bangladesh won the match easily by 6 wickets where Miraz was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance. He took 3 wickets with ball and also scored a fifty with the bat. Shakib also took three wickets and Shanto hit an unbeaten half-century.
After the match, Mashrafe wrote on his Facebook page, “There was no option to win. The Afghans got off to a great start. But Shakib repeatedly brought Bangladesh back into the match. Miraz's tight bowling in the middle combined with the combination of pace bowlers took one wicket after another and Bangladesh kept the game in their own hands. From Shakib's bowling rotation to field placement, his bowling proves how proactive he is. He always brings out his best in the time of pressure inside the field.”
“Miraz is currently the biggest asset of this team. He is giving his best the way the team wants him. I repeat, the fast-bowling group of Bangladesh is the horse of our dreams, our World Cup future depends on them.”
Mashrafe also does not want to hear any criticism regarding the two openers, who failed against Afghanistan. He added, “The openers didn't exactly score runs in batting, but the approach was not bad. It would not be right to discuss about them too much now. They will perform on the right day when it is needed. Today's batting is proof that Shanto is now very mature and in great form. He took the time to bat and took over the game, which was much needed today.”
After the Afghanistan match, Bangladesh’s next opponent is England. He ended his Facebook post by saying, “Congratulations Bangladesh! See you world champions England!”
