Genuine all rounder means having 2 service altogether, both batting and bowling. Where one all rounder is a blessing and dream of many, Bangladesh have got two all rounders thinks Bangladesh head coach Hathurusingha. He thinks himself blessed for having two quality all rounders in his arsenal, the marquee all rounder Shakib Al Hasan and the rising all rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz.
Most of the people don't take Miraz as an all rounder. But Hathurusingha doesn't agree with them as he thinks Miraz as a genuine all rounder. He said to the media on the eve of ODI series against Ireland- "He is a genuine batter with a Test and an ODI century," he said. "We can treat him as a genuine allrounder. We have another genuine allrounder in Shakib Al Hasan. We are very fortunate with our combination."
"Any coach would love to have this luxury. We are fortunate to have two genuine allrounders. Not many teams have that. We will definitely use it to our advantage"- he added.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz has played 132 matches for Bangladesh across formats and got a vast experience of playing international Cricket. He recently won Bangladesh from two unwinnable moments against India in ODI series, December 2022. He scored 38* off 39 and made 51 runs with Mustafizur in 9th wicket partnership and won the match for Bangladesh. While in the second game, he came to the crease at 67-7 and scored a stunning hundred to save Bangladesh from falling into a deep hole. With the performance of Mehedi Miraz with the bat, Bangladesh won the series by 2-1. From that series, he started to be deemed as a genuine all rounder rather than a bowling all rounder.
