The MCG and SCG will host standalone Women's Big Bash League regular season games for the first time this year to reinforce the status of women's competition.

The MCG and SCG will host standalone WBBL matches for the first time in the history of the competition as Cricket Australia looks to put the spotlight on women's game as the Australian summer begins. CA released the WBBL game schedules on Thursday. The last five games of the 56 home-away season will be played at the main venues Adelaide Oval, MCG and SCG from Friday 24 November to Sunday. November 26th.

A huge final weekend before the start of the finals at the Adelaide Oval on Friday 24th November when the Heat play the Thunder before the Adelaide Strikers host the Perth Scorchers.

The Stars and Renegades meet in a Melbourne derby at the MCG on Saturday 25 November – the first WBBL game at the iconic stadium since the league moved to a standalone window in 2019.

The SCG will host their first standalone WBBL games on Sunday, November 26 when the Sixers and Thunder face off in the Sydney Smash, a day that also sees the Hurricanes play the Strikers.

Alistair Dobson, CA's general manager of the Big Bash Leagues, said that given the heavy turnout in the ongoing Women's Ashes, scheduling WBBL games in prime venues is vital to the development of the competition. “The core of the WBBL is at the iconic North Sydney Oval and Allan Border Field venues, so the WBBL will be hosted there for the long term, but the opportunity to host some big events is exciting for us,” said Dobson.

"We're going to judge the success of these games in different ways... We're going to work hard to attract viewers, but that's not the only measure of our success. What we're seeing all over the world right now is that you're playing great.” Cricket is played in big, famous stadiums, people want to be there; we're seeing it in the UK at the moment, we've seen it in the WPL."

The Season 9 schedule calls for 10 neutral games, up from 25 last year, while each team will also play one home game over the first nine days of the tournament. The season as such will continue to be 59 games (56 league games + three finals), even though the men's Big Bash League has been reduced to 44 games this season. The WBBL will coincide with the Men's World Championship, but there will be no clashes with international home games. The final will be held on December 2nd.
