Australian cricket star Marnus Labuschagne has officially retired the bat he used in the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. This iconic bat, now showing significant wear and tear, was instrumental in Labuschagne’s unbeaten 58-run performance, which helped Australia secure their sixth World Cup title.

Labuschagne made the announcement on August 12 through his social media accounts, sharing images of the bat in its battered condition. "Think it’s finally time to retire the World Cup final bat," he posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. The bat’s damaged state reflects the intense pressure it endured during the high-stakes final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

During the World Cup final, Australia was in a precarious position at 47 for three after just seven overs, chasing a target of 241. Labuschagne stepped in at a critical juncture and, alongside Travis Head, built a match-winning 192-run partnership. His knock of 58 came at a steady strike rate of 52.72, focusing on rotating the strike and anchoring the innings, while Head’s explosive 137 off 120 balls stole much of the limelight.

Head’s aggressive innings, including 15 fours and four sixes, was crucial as Australia chased down the target with six wickets to spare.
