Mark Wood will miss the remainder of 2024 with elbow injury. While playing the first Test against Sri Lanka at Emirates Old Trafford, he bowled two deliveries into his 11th over in Sri Lanka's second innings on the third day and left the field immediately due to thigh injury.
Wood has been in electrifying form in this English summer, bowling at an extreme pace in three Tests against West Indies and this series opener.
Since returning to the Test side during last summer's Ashes from third Test at the Edgbaston, Wood has established himself in England's first-choice XI, especially in the home Tests.
However, ECB called 20 year-old Josh Hull to replace the speedster and eventually Hull made his Test debut in the third Test at Kennington Oval, London after warming the bench in the second Test.
Mark Wood "bone stress injury" in his right elbow will terminate his 2024 cricketing career. However, he always had to deal with injuries, due to bowling at higher speed he had to endure through this.
