Australia have swallowed their second 0-5 defeat after they were humiliated by the same margin by South Africa for the first time in 2016. Australia chose to bat first at the toss. Aaron Finch and Travis Head were off to a flyer with a 60-run stand in 6.3 overs. The Aussies lost wickets despite a quick start. Head was the only man with a half-century, 56 runs from 42 balls including 9 boundaries. Alex Carey and D'Arcy Short added 59 runs for the sixth-wicket as the run rate was high. Carey made 40-ball 44 with 5 fours and a six. Australia collapsed after Carey's wicket. They were bowled out for 205 runs in just 34.4 overs. Short remained unbeaten on 47. Moeen Ali bagged four for 46 with his off-breaks. Sam Curran, England second-youngest debutant, took two wickets. England top-order failed for the first time in the series. Billy Stanlake's pace took the hosts down to 28/4. England went to lunch at 66/5 in 16 overs. They were 114 for 8 after Kane Richardson's double strike. Jos Buttler kept England's whitewash hopes alive with a 81-run ninth-wicket partnership with Adil Rashid. Buttler steadily reached his fifty in 74 balls. Rashid was sent back for 20 and that brought Australia back in the game. Buttler scored his sixth ODI hundred off 117 deliveries. He brought up his century with a six to get the runs required to a single digit. Jake Ball survived 10 balls for 1* run. It was Buttler who hit the winning runs for England off Marcus Stoinis in the 49th over. England won by one wicket with 9 balls in hand. Buttler scored a match-winning 110* off 122 balls hitting 12 fours and a six.
