South Africa quick Lungi Ngidi has been out of the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan due to a groin injury.


On Thursday, November 14 the CSA (Cricket South Africa gave the injury updates about Lungi Ngidi and Temba Bavuma

"The 28-year-old (Lungi Ngidi) recently underwent a medical assessment as part of his structured conditioning period, during which scans revealed bilateral proximal adductor tendinopathy. He will now begin a rehabilitation programme and is expected to return to play in January," the CSA said in a statement.

Captain Temba Bavuma is also dealing with an injury. Bavuma is recovering from an elbow injury, which he sustained last month and due to the injury he missed the Bangladesh Test tour. Now Bavuma will undergo a fitness test on Monday to determine his availability for the Sri Lanka series, which begins in Durban on November 27th.

"Bavuma will undergo a fitness test on Monday, 18 November, to determine his availability for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which starts in Durban on 27 November," the release further added. 

South Africa are well poised to book the tickets for World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025, especially after completing a 2-0 whitewash over Bangladesh.
