Marnus Labuschagne is set to take a break before heading to English county cricket, hoping to regain his best form after a tough summer with the bat.

He will once again join Glamorgan ahead of Australia’s World Test Championship final against South Africa in June. Labuschagne endured his leanest Test season in 2024-25, averaging just 25.63—his lowest since making his debut in 2018—and failing to score a century.

"It has been a little bit of a whirlwind," Labuschagne said. "I have played some really good innings here and there, I have just probably not nailed it as much as I would have liked."

Marnus Labuschagne led Queensland in the Sheffield Shield final, where they suffered a four-wicket defeat to South Australia.

The 30-year-old, whose Test average has now dropped to 46.76, admitted that his dismissals in the final at Adelaide were a reflection of his struggles throughout the summer.

Labuschagne fell victim to a leg-side trap in the first innings, dismissed for a duck after flicking a catch to leg gully. In the second innings, after looking set on 61, he gave his wicket away with a loose shot, getting caught at deep square leg off a short ball.

"That dismissal, if I am playing my best I am not making those errors," he said.

"There's a lot to like about how I played and how I went about it," he said. "But just to get back to my best where I'm scoring hundreds, I am one of those players that just want to continue to grow and learn and keep finding that form."
