Avishka was taken to hospital[/caption]
The father of 21-year-old Avishka fainted while watching Sri Lanka's batting when the son was batting with Kusal Perera.
"His father is a diabetic patient and sugar level went up to 400 but he is out of danger and better now and if everything remains fine, Avishka will be able to play the next ODI on Wednesday", the chief selector and manager, Ashantha de Mel, speaking exclusively over telephone from Colombo, said.
The father is being treated by a physician Dr. M. C. Shivanthan. When approached, he, however, refused to discuss the condition of the patient. The patient has been in the Medical ICU.
Avishka won the Man of the Match award and the chief selector / manager was his interpreter while being interviewed on TV.
"Somebody sent me the photograph on my mobile and alerted about his father being carried in the ambulance".
Former Sri Lanka Cricket chairman Thilanga Sumathipala facilitated the ambulance process.
Mobile phones are only allowed to be retained by the team manager for the emergency service.
"He used my phone to call his mother and found the condition of his father. After the match, he came to the hotel and I saw Mendis accompanied him to the hospital".
