Kohli, Rohit, Ashwin and Bumrah to miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy

Team India’s super star cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin will not participate in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is also going to miss the tournament due to managing his workload.

In a recent report of ESPNCricinfo says that the senior red-ball candidates will have extended break considering the heavy Test series coming up. As a result, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah will not feature in the competition. But also, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will be featuring in the Duleep Trophy.
While Jasprit Bumrah will also miss the Bangladesh Test due to focusing on the high-octane clash against Border-Gavasker Trophy against Australia.
Mohammed Shami, who is inching closer to a comeback, having started bowling in the nets, is also in contention to feature in the domestic tournament. Shami's last competitive cricket contest was the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia.
The squads for the Duleep Trophy will be picked in the coming weeks by the selection committee led by chairman Ajit Agarkar. The tournament is slated to begin on September 5.
India will begin their red-ball journey against Bangladesh from Thursday, 19th September in Chennai. And then the Test series will be followed by a three-match Test series against New Zealand. After the five-match home Tests, team India will tour Australia for Border-Gavasker Trophy for 5-match Test series.
