India have started their ICC Test Championship on a high note with an easy clean sweep of 2-0 against West Indies. The series was a lot positive for the Kohli and co as they displayed some outstanding performances specially Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishant Sharma.
In the first Test surprisingly, Ravindra Jadeja was selected in the playing XI instead of Ravichandran Ashwin who is the Test specialist and leading wicket-taker for India among the active players in the format. Also, West Indies is one of the favorites for the off-spinner with both bat and ball.
The most accepted reason for that is the red hot form of Jadeja with both bat and ball in recent times. Indian skipper Virat Kohli also said that all-round performance of Jadeja is a big boost to the team. And also he stated about the control brought by Jadeja in bowling a big USP to the team.
Virat Kohli said that they can bank on Ravindra Jadeja’s control. He said, “With Jadeja, we can bank on control. He is the most consistent and accurate bowler in away games. There is a reason why he is constantly playing in the XI.
Even if the wicket is not supporting, he gives you control. As a batsman, when the bowler is pitching the ball in areas where you can get out constantly even if it is not turning so much, he is always in the game and that’s his USP.”
Further, Kohli praised the all-rounder that he is going through the form of his life. “With the bat, ball, and field – there is nobody better than him in the world. He is in a great zone right now and willing to contribute to the team. And he wants the ball, he wants to do the job,” Kohli concluded.
