India are back into the three-match ODI series with a comfortable win by six wickets in Adelaide Oval and leveled the series 1-1 with one match to go at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
It was another day of batting display at Adelaide Oval as almost 600 runs scored in the match. Australia batted first and scored 298 runs and set a target of 299 for India to level the series.
After a decent contribution from openers Indian skipper Virat Kohli and former skipper, MS Dhoni anchored the chase for India. Virat Kohli scored his 39th ODI century and top scored the batting chart for India. But he was unable to stay till the end.
His partner MS Dhoni stayed till the end and ensured the win for India with a good fifty. Even though Kohli scored a ton, the main topic of the game is the fifty from MS Dhoni as he was amongst some purple patches of his career with the bat in recent times.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli also lauded the knock of MS Dhoni and named it as MS Dhoni classic at Adelaide Oval. “There is no doubt that he shouldn’t be a part of this team.
Tonight was an MS classic. Only he knows what’s going through his mind. He calculates the game so well. He backs himself to hit those big hits. Hats off to him and Dinesh as well,” the Indian captain said when Isa Guha asked him about Dhoni.
The skipper also appreciated the cameo of Dinesh Karthik at the end which eased the chase for India more. “He (Karthik) came in and showed the right kind of intent. MS was as composed as ever. We try and help each other (MS and himself). Tonight was special for us,” he added.
