As anticipated following Sunday's match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Indian team management's injury concerns continue to develop. In all likelihood, opener KL Rahul will miss the remainder of the IPL.
The captain of the Lucknow-based franchise sustained an injury while fielding during the first innings of the match and did not return to the field until the game's final moments.
Although it was reported that he had injured his right quadriceps and there is no official update from the BCCI, Rahul did not play against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, and Krunal Pandya captained LSG in his absence. No one should be surprised if Rahul does not continue to compete in the tournament. It appears he is scheduled to travel to Mumbai for a scan, the results of which will determine whether he can still compete in the WTC final.
His LSG colleague Jaydev Unadkat, who injured his shoulder while fielding, will also miss the remainder of the season. The captain of Saurashtra has also traveled to Mumbai for scans and is expected to travel to the National Cricket Academy, where he will concentrate on getting healthy in time for the tournament. They will compete against Australia for the WTC championship.
