As per an ESPNcricinfo report, Gillespie, who is currently Pakistan's Test coach and interim white-ball coach for the ongoing tour of Australia, is set to be relieved of his duties, with Aaqib stepping in as his successor.

This decision comes despite Pakistan's recent improvements under Gillespie's leadership, particularly in the Test format. Gillespie, who started his tenure with a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against Bangladesh, later orchestrated a remarkable turnaround by leading Pakistan to a series win over England.
