Bangladesh all-rounder Soumya Sarkar expresses his joy after coming back to competitive cricket after recovering from injury.
Soumya suffered an injury during the third ODI against Sri Lanka in March this year. He got the injury while fielding. In that match, Tanzid Hasan Tamim replaced Soumya as a concussion substitute and later it was known that along with that he suffered from a knee injury which ruled him out of the squad for the Zimbabwe series for the first three T20Is.
However, Soumya was named for the last two T20Is and in the fourth T20I, he made a remarkable partnership with Tanzid Tamim which gave Bangladesh a fighting score in the match. They made a 101-run partnership in the opening despite being bundled out for just 143 runs. Soumya scored 41 runs from 34 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
“It feels good to be back on the field. It is difficult to see from the outside, rehabilitation or other processes. All in all, it is good to be back on the field. I have worked 100 percent to get myself fit. It would have been better to get a few more matches. Whatever the doctors felt was good, I felt good today,” Soumya said.
Soumya was careful from the beginning in the match. On the other hand, Tanzid was in attacking mood. Soumya said that he tried to support Tanzid and play according to the ball. "It took more time to set today. I played according to the nature of the ball. If I played like Tamim, it could have been the opposite for me. I tried to support him, I tried to rotate the strike,” Soumya added.
Bangladesh won the match by 5 runs and lead the five-match series by 4-0.
