Islamabad United has appointed former New Zealand coach and director of Royal Challengers Bangalore Mike Hesson as the head coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9.

Mike Hesson has been appointed as the head coach of Islamabad United for the upcoming ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 49-year-old replaces Azhar Mehmood, who worked for the franchise last year.

Hesson, a seasoned tactician with extensive coaching experience in various T20 leagues worldwide including the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), will lead the franchise into a new era of success.

United have had several managers since the death of Dean Jones - Misbah-ul-Haq, Johan Botha and most recently Azhar Mahmood. They are the only team that has not made it to the final since 2018. The two-time champions are believed to have been in talks for some time and United reportedly have Hesson as their top target.
