The Rajasthan Royals (RR) may not have emerged victorious in their IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), but they still etched their name in the record books with an incredible batting display.

In a thrilling encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, RR scored a massive 242 runs in their chase of SRH’s mammoth 286/6, setting a new record for their highest-ever team total in IPL history.
The second match of IPL 2025 turned into a run-fest as SRH batted first and unleashed carnage. The Sunrisers posted a staggering 286/6 in their 20 overs, the second-highest team total in IPL history.
Leading the charge was Ishan Kishan, who played a sensational unbeaten knock of 106 runs off just 47 balls. His innings, studded with 11 fours and 6 sixes, laid the foundation for SRH’s record-setting total, leaving RR with an almost impossible target of 287 runs.

Despite the daunting target, the inaugural IPL champions came out swinging and gave a spirited reply. While they fell short by 44 runs, their valiant effort saw them post 242 on the board, which is their highest team total in IPL history.
This surpassed their previous record of 226 runs, achieved against Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) at Sharjah in the 2020 season. Five years ago, RR had chased down PBKS’s 223/2, thanks to Mayank Agarwal’s blistering 106 off 50 balls.
That game is still fondly remembered for Sanju Samson’s 85 off 42 deliveries and Rahul Tewatia’s unforgettable six-hitting spree. Meanwhile, the 286/6 total posted by SRH and the 242 runs scored by RR made this match one of the highest aggregate-scoring games in IPL history, with 528 runs scored in 40 overs.
While SRH walked away with the win, RR’s innings highlighted standout performances that reaffirmed their strength as a batting unit.
