Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has made a significant change to their coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2025 season by appointing Mumbai’s senior coach Omkar Salvi as their new fast bowling coach.

The 46-year-old will replace Adam Griffith, who held the position last season. Salvi’s extensive experience in the domestic circuit and previous stints in the IPL are expected to be a major asset for RCB, a team still in search of their first IPL title.

Omkar Salvi has been a key figure in Mumbai cricket, guiding the team to major victories, including the Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup titles in 2023. His coaching career also includes a stint as an assistant coach with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he gained valuable IPL experience. A source close to the franchise stated to Indian Express, "He has been appointed as the bowling coach for RCB for the forthcoming season; he has expertise and has worked with other franchises too."

Salvi’s contract with the Mumbai Cricket Association will end in March 2025, just in time for him to fully focus on his role with RCB. His ability to simplify bowling strategies and stick to basics might be exactly what RCB needs, especially considering the challenges posed by the short boundaries at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In another key coaching change, earlier RCB has brought in Dinesh Karthik as their batting coach. Both Karthik and Salvi have worked together at KKR, creating a strong chemistry that could benefit RCB in the upcoming season.
